Old news:
March 2006 - Our event
at Champs Karting went very well. We had more track
time than ever--more than most riders or bikes could handle.
Please note that the upcoming races at Xplex in Monroe are
Friday practice day with Sunday race days, (like last year's
season). We must also reiterate that we want to
provide the opportunity, for as many riders as possible who
follow proper safety guidelines, to get to ride their bikes
on the track. This means that owners of x-bikes, midi
bikes that don't fit in other pocket bike racing classes,
pocket bikes with suspension, YSR's and motards may be able
to utilize our track as well. At this time we don't
have any idea how the best way will be to structure it, but
if you show up with a bike and proper gear, we will try to
get you on the track. Should a class of bikes be setup
for motards & YSRs, it may end up being called the Formula
Open Class.
February 2006 - Last
Saturday's practice day was under the best conditions
possible. The sun was out, it wasn't too hot or cold,
and the track surface was clear. The only thing
missing was the bikes; a couple of our riders have bikes
that are torn down for the winter, and others just didn't
show.

General instructions:
Make sure your bikes have been gone through and are ready
for a day of hard racing. There may not be adequate time
between sessions or space for pitting your bike to setup all
your tools and a workbench. The indoor racing may not
be separated into groups of different rider skill levels,
but will if there are enough riders and we deem that it is
necessary. This is not an NWMRL event, so our rulebook
doesn't necessarily apply, but the rules of conduct will be
enforced. That means all riders will be required to be
polite and respectful. Any aggressive or reckless
riding may incur penalties or ejection from the event.
Ruel will have to remain outside in your vehicle.
Bikes must pass a technical inspection, the details of which
are covered in our rules. We will be looking for fluid
leaks, functional brakes and kill switches. This might
be viewed as a practice day or demonstration, and may not
include any real racing starts or finishes.

questions. Mitch, 206-999-6160
January 2006 - this winter has
most of us Northwest racers tearing down our bikes and going
through them, to replace any defective or worn parts.
The weather hasn't been the most conducive for racing, but
we are going to have access to practicing on the 28th of
January and on February 11th.
Some of our rider's bikes were
on display this month at the Gallery at Windermere in
downtown Kirkland, Washington.
The schedule for this year's
racing season is in the final process of being confirmed.
It will be posted as soon as it is known.
November 7 2005 - we just
heard from the venue that the short winter days are
going to make it impossible to run concurrent pocket bike
races with karts. If you know of an indoor karting
venue that we could run the winter at, let us know.
September 23 - Evening Races.
This event was very unique. The gates opened at about
4 PM, and racing ran until 10:30 at night. Although it
was publicized as a short track, it was still longer than
most tracks that west coast riders get to run on. Lap
records were set by TJ for the juniors and Mitch for the
seniors.
Rules revisions: as we
progress with more experience in organizing events, our
rules must evolve to preserve the safety of participants.
In the future, the black flag will be used to denote that a
rider must pull off the track at the pit exit in order to
determine the cause of the flag, whether it be due to some
mechanical failure or due to aggressive conduct. There
will be no black flag with an orange dot. Since the
Monroe track is a very wide track, any passing maneuver must
be done safely at the discretion of the passing rider.
Any unsafe pass that causes riders to collide, with or
without a resulting crash, or which could have caused a
crash even though no rider contact occurred, may be deemed
aggressive riding. It is absolutely necessary that we
foster a safe riding atmosphere for our newer riders, and it
is the responsibility of our more experienced riders to help
others along, not run the into the wall.
14 September - The winter
season dates are preliminarily posted...upon finalization
they will be entered into speedreg.com for registration.
Our last event on September 11th went over well. There
were no wrecks that I can remember, but a lot of mechanical
failures since this is a big track. Photos and lap
time sheets will be posted soon.
Also, we lost the practice day
time on the 23rd of September, but will still be racing in
the evening. All future race dates must be registered for
through ONLINE
REGISTRATION @
speedreg.com.
8 AUG - This weekend's racing
was a huge success. Although our track time was shared
with a major karting event, we still we able to go out and
have a great time. 18 riders participated in the
races. This track is so large and encourages riders to
run at higher speeds than they may be used to, and consuming
more fuel that they were used to. One practice session
could use more than a half tank of fuel! For the next
event, riders will be getting more track time. It was
great to have such an upbeat community of riders. The
timing sheets are posted here (careful examination
determined that the timing system missed a couple of laps in
the novice class and possibly others, but the results are
generally in order and confirmed by manual observation):

The most recent NWMRL races
expanded to include X-bikes and small super-motard/shifter
bikes. Clear rules or classes have not been drawn up for
these bikes yet, but at least individuals who own these
bikes will now have a place to ride & race them in
Washington State.
Riders who attend the practice
sessions may elect to participate in a 2 hour novice &
intermediate racing school.
Racing is almost never
closed due to rain or other weather conditions.
May 9 - Discussion about the
restrictor plate used in the Standard 4.2 class has been
resolved. NWMRL will be supplying 17.5mm restrictor
plates to all riders in the Junior 4.2 Production class free
of charge at registration, to be returned at the end of the
day. All junior std 4.2 riders will be required to
install them for their races. Also, the 4.2 class
exists to race 4.2s, therefore only single reed engines will
race in the 4.2 class. Dual reed engines [with allowed
high performance pipes] will be placed in the 6.2
class (called Junior GP).
